A Village move needs more than a neighborhood name and floor number. Give Two Guys And a Truck NYC the complete entrance address, the nearby intersection and a description of the path furniture will take. We serve moves in, from and to Greenwich Village and the West Village; this guide concentrates on the street approach and the turns inside the property.

Do not infer the approach from numbered streets
NYC Planning describes the Greenwich Village Historic District as having an irregular street grid. Use the street name exactly as it appears on the property address, together with the cross street and loading entrance. Do not shorten the address to a numbered street alone or assume the truck can approach as it would on Manhattan’s regular grid. NYC Planning historic resources, Greenwich Village.
Distinguish the house from the apartment route
The same Planning report describes nineteenth-century rowhouses and townhouses alongside later apartment buildings. That mixture supports an entrance survey, not an assumption that your home has stairs or a usable elevator. For a converted house, tell us if the apartment is entered from the stoop, a lower door or a shared hallway. For an apartment building, get its current moving instructions. The final approach still follows truck rules
NYC DOT explains that access to a destination off a truck route uses the most direct connection from the nearest truck-route intersection and returns by the most direct route. Supply the actual working entrance so that final approach can be considered for the vehicle. Passenger-car directions are not a substitute for the truck plan. NYC DOT truck routing.
How we handle the move plan
We begin with the pieces that will be hardest to turn: a long sofa, tall cabinet or bed component that cannot easily bend around a landing. Give their measurements, describe what can be disassembled and identify any item that must stay upright. Then describe each part of the carry, including the vestibule and turns between flights. Ask the landlord which door is permitted for moving and whether the shared passage has any time restrictions. If there is an elevator, obtain its usable dimensions and current booking or COI requirements from management. We use these details to discuss the route through the building and the work in the written estimate. Include the destination even for a move around the corner; the second staircase can be the limiting part of the job. Before moving day, separate anything that is staying behind and keep the working passage clear.
Questions before moving day
Why do you need a cross street in the Village?
The irregular street pattern makes a precise entrance description useful. The full address and intersection distinguish the property from a general Village label; add a separate service entrance if the furniture will use one.
Does an old rowhouse address mean a walk-up move?
No. The area’s housing history cannot establish the present access inside your property. Give the actual flights and any elevator details instead of relying on the age or outside appearance of the building.
Can a short Village move be estimated from travel distance alone?
The loading paths still need assessment. Identify furniture, stairs and turns at each home and the available building windows. A move between neighboring streets can have substantial carrying work even when transport is brief.
