Westchester’s parkways are closed to moving trucks. The Hutchinson River, Saw Mill River, Bronx River, Sprain Brook, Cross County and Taconic parkways are on New York State’s list of downstate parkways where commercial vehicles are not permitted (NYSDOT). In the city, the Henry Hudson Parkway and the FDR Drive are closed to commercial vehicles too (NYC DOT). The truck uses interstates such as I-87, I-95, I-287 and I-684, which are open to commercial traffic (NYSDOT). Call (646) 455-1930.
Moving into a Westchester house
- Tell us the driveway and the walk to the door: steps, slopes and how close the truck can park.
- Measure big pieces against doorways and stairs at the new house.
- If you are between closings, ask about a move with storage.
Moving out of a city apartment
Most apartment buildings want three things before a mover arrives: a booked move time, a reserved service elevator (if there is one) and a certificate of insurance (COI) naming the building. Ask management for their sample COI and send it to us a week before; we send the COI your building asks for.
Licensed in New York State
A move inside New York State is licensed by the state. A & A Alliance Moving Inc (Two Guys And a Truck NYC), a family business since 1999, holds NYSDOT 34875; for moves to other states we also hold U.S. DOT No. 967970 / MC-432549 and NJPM 000930.
