Moving from NYC to Philadelphia? Get the street permit early. Philadelphia’s Department of Streets issues Temporary No Parking permits for moving trucks. Apply at least four business days ahead, take the printed permit to your police district for the signs, and post them as soon as you get the permit, at least 24 hours before the move (City of Philadelphia). Call (646) 455-1930.
How a NYC to Philadelphia move works
- Call or send the quote form with both addresses, your date and what you are moving.
- Long-distance moves are priced differently from local moves, so you get your own written estimate before moving day.
- Book the Philadelphia permit and your New York building’s move time.
Licensed for moves between states
This move crosses a state line, so federal rules apply. A & A Alliance Moving Inc (Two Guys And a Truck NYC), a family business since 1999, holds U.S. DOT No. 967970 and MC-432549 for moves between states, plus NYSDOT 34875 and NJPM 000930. Check any mover on the FMCSA website, and read the federal guides Ready to Move? and Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move.
After the move
Pennsylvania gives new residents 60 days to get a PA driver license (PennDOT).
